Connestee Falls Natural Resources Stewardship

Help Stop the Spread of Parrot Feather
Residents are asked to avoid motoring, paddling or fishing through clusters of parrot feather and/or taking boats from lake to lake. The invasive weed can spread from fragments
that get carried by boats, current, and wind. If you do take a boat to/from another lake inside or outside of CF
make sure your boat is CLEAN, DRAINED and DRY.
Our vision is that Connestee Falls will continue to be an inspiring and desirable location where owners, residents and guests feel connected to the beauty and harmony of nature.
Many of us chose to call Connestee Falls home because of its natural beauty. The CFPOA Board recognized the importance of this unique asset and in late 2021 established the Natural Resources Stewardship Committee (NRSC). The committee was charged to develop a plan that would ensure the long-term sustainability of the natural environment within Connestee.

The Connestee Falls Natural Resources Stewardship Plan (NRSP) was approved by the CFPOA Board in March 2024 focuses on three key goals; keep wildlife wild, protect water resources, and protect native habitats.
Ultimately, responsibility for protecting our natural resources does not rest on a committee or with the Board. This effort requires ongoing community interest, involvement and action. The committee invites you to explore this website to learn more about CF's incrdible natural environment, what the NRSC is doing to protect it and to discover ways that you can help.

What We Are Doing
The NRSC is celebrating five years of work by the CF Hemlock Friends who have treated over 2,650 hemlock trees within Connestee for the invasive woolly adelgid insect. Please join us on November 7th at 11 am to welcome the NC Hemlock Restoration Initiative (HRI) team and recognize our CF volunteers for their work. More information here.

The committee has adopted the EcoForesters 2025 CF Forest Management Plan (FMP). The FMP provides recommended actions that will improve the overall health of Connestee's forested areas. You can learn about the FMP in the NRSC September e-news here.

We are currently working with Clemson University to conduct a Lake Management Study (LMS) and to develop a Lake Management Plan (LMP). You can read more about the upcoming study in the NRSC October e-news here.
